Digimon World Let's Play

Part 2!!

C'mon, Dango, we need to write part 2 of this LP!

After trying to convince Kunemon to find another hobbies besides destroying the local flora, me and Dango go to explore the new are we have unlocked, and, to our suprise, the bridge is broken. Makes me think of that little childrens rhyme, London Bridge is Falling Down, which is the narrative thematic central point of the 1993 drama movie Falling Down, starring Michael Douglas. It's a very good movie! But, anyway, that isn't what this page is about...

We travel down the south and find ourselves on an area called Coela Beach. I really like the ambience really, it's very peaceful! This location seems to be named after the titular Coelamon, a coelacanth-like digimon. He is a really cool guy, too! Unlike all of the other digimon we have recruited to live in File City so far, he doesn't attack us... He just is glad to tallk and help! :) I just feel like I can trust this guy with anything.

With the help of Coelamon and his friends, me and Dango are able to travel to Tropical Jungle, a new area to the east of File City. I feel so fancy saying stuff like "to the east of", haha. Being honest, it's hard for me to know what is west and what is east, so I have to remember that it's basically left and right, in a casual understanding of the concept. Since I live in the americas and they are to the left of the world map, I live in the west. That's how I remember it.

Digimon World happens on a continent of the Digital World named File Island, and File City is located in the middle of it. File Island appears as a central location that's explored by the protagonists on many Digimon media, and it is always changing depending on the source. This is what the official TCG Battle Spirits says about it, sourced from Wikimon:

"An island located in the Digital World. Although humans do not live on it, there are various signboards and vending machines written in Japanese that can be found around the island. Infinity Mountain stands in the center of the island, and surrounding it are different regions exhibiting various environments."

Tropical Jungle is a nice change of pace from the woods we have been exploring since them, I absolutely love the design and color choices from it. Overall, I really like the way this game uses pre-rendered backgrounds to create this dreamlike landscape, it does feel like a place that could exist online somehow, somewhere... But this is where I got a bit confused with the game progression! Up until now, I hadn't unlocked an item shop yet, and me and Dango were surving on the graces of random item drops from battles, but that wasn't working anymore, the enemies were getting stronger and all that jazz. All the guides I checked said that recruiting Coelamon unlocked the damned item shop.

No Herb, I can't see any fantasy-digital 711 from here.

So, in all of my wisdom, I walked up and down all the cranes around File City, searching for the promissed item shop. Nothing. It wasn't until I watched a playtrought on youtube that I discovered you actually had to come back to Coela Beach and talk with Coelamon again... So he could come back to the city and start his own bussiness. Damn! Really a The Trial by Franz Kafka kinda moment.

Do you think Kafka would have liked Digimon? I think he would haved liked Agumon.

So, we went all back to Coela Point, and talked with our old friend... Again...

>How could someone refuse such a request? :( I would do anything for him... And thus, this is how we won against the concept of determined destiny.

And with this message of hope, I bid you my reader farawell today. Until next time!
